Lung Cancer Research

Ongoing research on biomarkers, molecular profiling, and immune landscape of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in northeastern Brazil, including PD-L1, ALK, EGFR, and GSK-3β.

Since 2012, our group at the Federal University of Ceará Graduate Program in Pathology has conducted a series of prospective and retrospective studies on lung cancer biomarkers and outcomes.

Active research lines:

  • PD-L1 expression and its association with EML4-ALK and EGFR status in pulmonary adenocarcinomas from northeastern Brazil
  • GSK-3β expression as a prognostic biomarker in resected NSCLC
  • Immunohistochemical profiling of dendritic cells in mediastinal lymph nodes of NSCLC patients
  • Impact of lymphadenectomy adequacy on survival after lung resection
  • DLL3, ASC1, TTF-1 and Ki-67 co-expression in small cell lung cancer
  • Patterns of oncologic care and molecular testing access in a public hospital setting
